Protecting our natural world

When it comes to our business we focus on people, pets and our planet

Environment

Making a positive impact on the environment has always been a part of our DNA. We are pioneers in this space. From launching Harringtons in compostable bags to making our own energy from our CHP plant. We are taking this to the next level.

We are taking action now.

Carbon Negative Achievement

In November 2020 we became the first major pet food manufacturer to be certified Carbon Negative. We achieved this through a combination of accurate carbon assessment and offsetting - for our production, manufacturing, office and all of our employees (so working for us means that we offset your carbon footprint).

Some of the projects that helped us reach this goal

Bee and Butterfly Meadow

As a part of our Positive Pawprint initiative we are growing a meadow to help biodiversity and encourage a few more bees and butterflies. This has resulted in an abundance of bees, butterflies and other insects, as well as attracting a pair of Oystercatchers – wading birds with Amber protection status in the UK as a result of lack of available habitat. Having them set up residence means we have created an environment diverse enough to support them in a relatively short period of time.

Miles and Meals

We have a goal of giving one million meals each year to animal shelters across the country. The idea is simple. Our customers sign up, then walk, run or cycle as much as they can. They keep track of their progress by joining our Strava club and then for every mile completed, we donate a meal to a pet in need.

Tree Planting

We have pledged to plant 1 million trees. We only need to plant 444,000 trees to offset IPN activity, but we want to go above and beyond this.

So far, we have planted trees for all of our employees at Thorp Perrow and a few local councils and schools around Kinmel bay.

We are currently in talks with a company about planting our first Wagg Wood in time for 2023 when we turn 100 years old (100 acre wood…) Watch this space!

Packaging

All of the packaging we use is 98% recyclable and we are working hard to ensure we can claim 100% in the future.
