Inspired Pet Nutrition - Slavery Statement

This statement is made pursuant to the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps which IPN Inspired Pet Nutrition has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place either within our supply chain or in any part of our business.

This statement clarifies the steps that this company has taken during the financial year to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any of its supply chains, and in any part of its own business.

As a company we believe that modern slavery is a crime resulting in the unacceptable abuse of human rights by offences such as slavery, servitude and forced compulsory labour. We want to do everything possible to prevent slavery within our organisation and supply chain(s).

We fully understand and comply with the facts that we have a moral duty to ensure that our workers are paid above market and living wage rates, have good welfare provisions, relevant PPE and a competitive offer. Our brand is important but our people are more so. Due diligence, risk management and management tools to ensure we are a fair, legally compliant employer is critical to our sustainability.

Supply Chain Overview

We recognise that the Pet Food Industry (FMCG) supply chain can be extremely complex, having numerous levels of supplier between the manufacturer and raw material source. We recognise our responsibility in a challenging industry and make it our absolute commitment to manage our business and sustainability of the product. It is important to us that wherever human capital is involved that
human rights, and the environment in which we all operate is not only ours but also our suppliers’ responsibility where there is a direct interconnectedness. As customers of our suppliers, we have an active role in supplier communications ensuring they are fully compliant with our expectations.

Supply Chain Standards

In our procurement process, we expand on our expectations and suppliers’ obligations on specific topics. For example, equality, diversity, human rights, slavery.

Slavery and Human Trafficking

We understand that Slavery and forced labor can take many forms, including human trafficking or child labour. As a business, IPN will simply not tolerate forced labour (including human trafficking) or child labour in our supply chain or company and where appropriate, we conduct audits to ensure compliance. Our processes include actions to safeguard against human rights abuses (including
forced labour and human trafficking) in our supply chain, including:

  • Our Terms and Conditions forbid the use of any form of slavery or physically abusive disciplinary practices. Our suppliers must certify themselves compliant with our terms and rules in these matters and provide us with satisfactory declarations of their commitment to the same. We reserve the right to terminate our relationship with a supplier if issues of noncompliance with our policies are
discovered and/or noncompliance is not addressed in a timely manner.

The board of directors of Inspired Pet Nutrition, Managing Director and Chairman have all provided full and supportive approval of this statement as dated 29th June 2016.
