Meet IPN's new pet first aiders
In a manufacturing environment, of course, health & safety is a key priority. We extend that priority to our pets too. This is of particular importance as we encourage colleagues to bring their dogs to work with them.
IPN colleagues have been given the opportunity, supported by Purple Dog, to learn how to provide first aid to our furry, four-legged colleagues and all can now support on the following:
- managing canine behaviour in an emergency
- DR ABC (primary survey) - danger, response, airway, breathing, circulation
- Examination of an injured animal and managing shock
- CPR
- Practical skills - recording pulse, respiration rates and applying bandages
- Types of wounds and fractures - identification and administering treatment
- Management of specific conditions -choking, stings, allergic reactions, poisoning, hyperthermia and hypothermia, water inhalation, seizures, gastric torsion, burns and electrocution
This follows on from our launch of our ver own Pet Pawtective Equipment.
As so many of us bring our pets to work, we want them to be safe and seen when walking through, or around our IPN sites.
